May 14th-16th 2020
For the final assessment of my undergraduate degree I will be taking part I a community exhibition held throughout the town of Pontypridd. The town has held this exhibition in partnership with the creative and therapeutic arts course, based in the university of south wales Treforest campus, for the last few years. Many local organisations are opening their doors to us students to showcase this work such as: Pontypridd museum, Pontypridd market, Clwb y Bont, Pontypridd park and St Catherine’s Church.
This is an opportunity to make, curate and showcase the artistic skills that both myself and my peers have been working towards throughout the duration of my studies. We will be exhibiting a wide range of creative projects from documentary, crochet, dioramas and sculpture. Each piece being as unique as the venues they will be held within.
This is also a brilliant opportunity for the community to engage with the arts, many of the pieces being in direct relation to the rich history and culture of the town. Not only this we can build those essential bonds between students and residents in the area. Again developing the ideals of community.
I personally will be working alongside the organisation Clwb y Bont and with the guidance of the group ‘Bee Friendly Pontypridd’ to showcase the rare and incredible bee friendly status of the town. Highlighting the work the community and local artists are creating to ensure that we keep this status, as well as all the hard work that has gone into acquiring the title.
